This one can be a little subjective depending on your own home so just consider this as a very general guide that hopefully will apply to most people.
I don’t personally do a lot of chores daily but I do think that there are a few things everyone should do just to keep their sanity.
Never ever leave the house for the day or go to bed with a sink full of dishes, this breeds bacteria and attracts bugs. In my house my boyfriend is the one who does all the dishes, thank god.
Taking out the trash should be done when full or whenever there is anything in it that can create an odor.
General Pick Up and Wipe Down
Like I said, I don’t do a lot during the weekdays but I do make sure that my kitchen table and counters are clean and make sure there is nothing on the floor. I hate to see anything in the wrong place so mostly I’m just putting things back together so my house looks moderately okay.
Each week I have to have to wash my bedding, towels and all clothes. I find it really gross to think about what is on my sheets and towels after a whole week. Another thing that makes it really easy is that I buy only white bedding so they can be very easily bleached and cleaned.
From the top of the fridge to the bookshelf this is really important to avoid excess allergens.
In my teeny tiny bathroom we just have to wipe down the toilet and sink and take out the trash. This only take about half an hours but remember, always clean it well because it shares the same space as your toothbrush.
Mirrors & Windows
This can really be as often as needed but once a week works for us.
This includes all floors. I know maybe I could clean them more but I really like to deep clean them once a week. When I vacuum I sprinkle a little bit of baking soda to cleanse and absorb any moisture in my carpet.
Including anything from the fridge to the microwave the the coffee maker, clean these and they will last a lot longer. For me this also includes out HEPA filter and air conditioner filter.
This is the stuff that’s usually overlooked. In my house I wash the couch covers, mattress cover and shower curtain once a month. To help me out I schedule them on my phone calendar on different weeks i.e. shower curtain one week, and mattress cover the next.
Clean the Walls
Yearly it is good practice to wipe down the walls to give your home that extra shine. After all, think of how much your walls go through each year.
Shampoo the Carpet
You can buy or rent a carpet cleaner once a year for a decent price. This will ensure that your carpets will last for years to come.
Again, this is not going to be perfect for every home but it can be used as a general cleaning guide. I hope you found this helpful and let me know if you have any fun cleaning tips or suggestions.
